Columnist says Apple sales dropping, Vista will rule

Industry pundit Rob Enderle says that both Linux and Apple are unlikely to benefit if Microsoft's Windows Vista is a Dud, according to his latest column. "In the end it will come down to Microsoft and their partners' ability to build and sustain demand. If they can't -- and either Linux or Apple can address their current shortcomings -- they could lose share. This is unlikely. What is more likely to happen is that people will just stick with what they are running. Under that scenario it is very likely the press coverage for Microsoft will look a lot like the press coverage now does for Sun. If they can drive a massive sales event for Vista, Apple might take a significant hit, the PC market would get a lot healthier, and AMD, in particular, would get a nice shot in the arm."

In addition, Enderle, without providing any concrete evidenece, asserts that demand for Apple's products have "dropped like rock" because of its announced transition to the Intel-architecture, despite evidence to the contrary in the company's most recent quarterly financial results, an increasing share of the PC market, and Apple outpacing the industry in growth in both Europe and the US.

This guy has no clue what so ever. He talks through his @##$!. I was in an Apple Store last Saturday and it looked like Christmas was upon us. Two Macs went out in 15 minutes. An iMac and a 15" Powerbook. The store was jammed with people looking at Macs and asking questions. Me and my friend had to wait for someone to move before we could get close to a mac on display. He sounds as if Vista was going to be released tomorrow or something. The barely got it to beta stage and it took them four years to do that! Microsoft will be lucky to get it out in early 2007 like April or May the way they have been slipping the date on this one.

Know what he talking about, that is. Cold hard facts have NEVER gotten in the way of Rob Enderle making a total @ss of himself in his column.

He's pathetic. Don't even give him the hits he so desperately craves. That's the only reason he posts these flamebait columns in the first place.

Enderle is a market analyst. His opinions drive investor options. He has been dead wrong on everything 'Apple' for the past 5 years (as far as I know). Apple's stock has skyrocketed in the past 5 years. If Enderle would just face reality, ie Apple is a good, profitable company, then his investors could have made a buttload of money over the past 5 years. What a crime, when personal grudges get in the way of good, sound investing and analyst advice.

... Enderle's track record is as bad as Dvorak's (ie, one correct prediction every 15 years).

I'm not bothered by know-nothings like Enderle writing what they think is a "safe" prediction, yet another variant on "Apple is doomed" ... what bothers me is how do people like this KEEP their jobs? Surely SOMEONE besides us Apple folk (who don't listen to him anyway) has noticed that the guy is completely off-base almost all the time?

If I was wrong in my job as often as he is at his, I'd be fired. Who reviews Enderle's work, and what possible justification can they have to keep him around?

His wife, Mary Enderle, is the same way (re: talking through @$$). If you remember when the last iMac rev came out, she wrote a review saying that the design is "top-heavy and unstable", all without even having a machine in front of her to actually corroborate her claims. The Enderles seem to be all about deriving reality all through (not well-justified) opinion.

Enderle owes his existence to M$. He's their lapdog. Everyone with their eyes open knows this and dismisses his doom and gloom take on Apple.

But, I don't know why, his blather often gives me a good laugh.
