Quicken gains .Mac backup, account integration

Intuit is preparing to release Quicken 2006, the latest edition of its financial software for Mac. This version introduces a "Smart Payee" feature, integration of multiple accounts, transaction scheduling, and backup with .Mac. Smart Payee enables users to automatically rename slightly mismatched transactions from payees. User with more than one account per household can now view their finances together in one overview. Transaction scheduling helps users keep track of incoming pay, outgoing bills, and forecast projected finances. The .Mac backup feature lets any .Mac subscriber backup Quicken data to their iDisk.

Another year wasted...

...without adding the most basic Home & Business invoicing option - Intuit keeps gilding the lily with mostly useless features while mac users plea in unison for a decent 'lite' integrated bookeeping package... Quickbooks still can't even download or import bank transactions so it is at best a stupidly inefficient compromise...

Quicken is a package with huge potential to actually help equalize the platform, and for unknown reasons the 'Suits' (I assume) continue to seemingly ignore feedback forums (try CNET) & offer dubious upgrades that leave mac users like myself buying a pc for accounting needs...

Insanely great? I think not...

QuickBooks doesn't influence my purchasing decisions on personal finance software. Quicken is best of class on Mac OS X, and I appreciate Intuit's continued support.

I like the new Quicken 6, it gives me a reason to keep .mac. I upgraded from 2002 to 2006 and have noticed a real improvement. I think that Quicken is doing a wonderful job of supporting Macs.

Is it just me or are there no links to Quicken 2006 on that web page? I guess they don't want to sell their product.

Following the above link, there seems to be some good new features to Quicken 2006, like: - Instant one-click insights on recent spending - Improved Reports Center - Manage your spending with new reports - Attach electronic checks, receipts and other images with transactions - Attach electronic statements and other images with accounts - Save your reports and invoices as PDFs - Correct and edit from within reports - Quickly find and edit your transactions - Over 121 customer-suggested improvements

Then I realized I was reading what was new in Quicken for Windows. So I followed the Quicken for Mac link, and what's new, according to Intuit?

- Improved transaction scheduling - Ability to back up your Quicken file to .Mac2 - Improved account registers - Payee customization tools - Over 50 customer suggestions

Ooh, there's are so good! Someone catch me, I'm going to faint!

So while Windows users get even more useful features that people using financial software would want, Mac users get "register improvements" and the ability to use the same account access with more than one data file. Oh, and .mac integration. Wow! Just talking about it, I think I just had an orgasm, its so exciting...

My point, to you " I think that Quicken is doing a wonderful job of supporting Macs." people. I guess if you think being pissed on is the tipping point, well, yes, Intuit actually hasn't pissed on me, so they have great support! Otherwise, you just don't realize that they're actually shoveling you their waste and calling it 'dessert'.
