Extensis sells Photoshop plug-ins/Quark XTensions

Extensis today announced that it has sold its Creative Tools product line to onOne Software. Included are the popular Photoshop plug-ins and QuarkXPress XTension (pxl SmartScale, PhotoFrame, Intellihance Pro, Mask Pro, PhotoTools, QX-Tools Pro and the sister company, LizardTech's Genuine Fractals product). Both Extensis and LizardTech will continue support for these products until July 31st--after which onOne will provide all applicable support. The decision was made by Celartem in an effort to refine its existing product lines which focus on digital content management and distribution, specifically its GeoExpress, Document Express, Portfolio, Font Reserve and Suitcase products.

Celartem's CEO Carlos Domingo stated "In an effort to focus on better servicing our millions of individual and corporate customers who rely on our font and digital content management products to drive their mission critical workflows, we have determined our add-on products are a better fit for a company committed to this market, [...] as onOne is comprised of several former Extensis employees, we cannot think of a better home for this product line."

After purchasing these products from Celartem, onOne Software will immediately begin development of new features and improvements to several of these products. Each of the Photoshop plug-ins are already compatible with Adobe Photoshop CS2 as well as Mac OS X Tiger. Users can download free, fully-functional 30-day demos of each product from the onOne Software website.

"At onOne Software, our users come first," said Craig Keudell, President of onOne Software. "There is no better way to demonstrate our commitment to our user base of professional photographers and creative professionals than to provide them with meaningful updates to these valuable products."

Good grief! So, I held off upgrading until Genuine Fractals was compatible with Tiger and PS CS2. It was only going to cost $50, I believe.

Now, they've sold off (or spun off) the company and jacked off the pricing to $100 for an upgrade. And yes, I meant to say "jacked off."

Is there ANY other software on the planet that does what Genuine Fractals does? Anyone? Bueller?
