Mac market share
Data collected by IDC indicates that the Mac has gained market share in worldwide PC shipments. Specifically, Apple's market share of worldwide PC shipments grew to 2.5% in Q2, up from 2.3% in Q1, notes research and investment firm PiperJaffray. "Apple's worldwide PC shipment market share over the last 2 years has been hovering in the 1.8%-2.3% range. We expect continued market-share gains through the back-half of CY05, as Apple benefits from carryover from the massive installed base of iPods during the back-to-school and holiday seasons." Mac market share increased 0.2% in each of the last 3 quarters. A continuation of 0.2% market share gains through the end of CY06 would lead to average CY06 Mac market share of 3.4%.

I would have thought it would be larger than just 0.2% increase

One must remember that 0.2% represents close to a 10% growth in unit sales. (In some quarters that would be even more dramatic.)
Given that the numbers looked at here are for the spring vs. the winter, this is very significant. Education is not a big factor for Q2... Education shipments are largely in Q3.
Also, the numbers are for world shipments... as koolkid notes.. The world's a big place... with a lot of local variances...
Time to strap on the acceler-o-meter people... and watch those numbers grow!!

And the market...

The market itself also grew overall by about 15%. So Apple grew enough to keep up with market growth and grow market share.
