Aspyr ships Star Wars Battlefront for Mac OS X

Aspyr Media today announced it is now shipping .

Players can participate in each of the epic Star Wars battles and are able to select one of the 20 different soldier types from each of the four factions: Rebel Alliance, Imperial Army, Clone Army and Droid Army. It also features soldier types, such as standard infantry, scouts, heavy weapons and pilots. Each soldier has specialized abilities and the freedom to use ground-based turrets found on the battlefront as well as more than 25 diverse ground and air vehicles including the AT-ST, X-wing and speeder bike, and the massive Republic Gunship that can hold up to five different soldiers.

The team-based game mode offers more than a dozen unique locations across 10 diverse planets including Hoth, Geonosis and Endor. The single-player mode offers "Instant Action," "Galactic Conquest" and the story-based "Historical Campaigns" mode, which lets gamers experience all of the Star Wars battles from Episodes I-VI. Aspyr also said that Star Wars Battlefront is also optimized for multiplayer action online, allowing users to leverage GameRanger to battle it out against both Mac and PC gamers.
