    lower sales

you aren't going to have higher sales of an operating system to offset the lower sales of computers...for very long, the best you could hope for is a temporary phenomena.

its ashame the intel switch is going to distract apple, but allowing sales to languish without an update....well, I still hope they correct that with the July 7th announcement...so no point in not waiting and seeing just a wee bit more....

Any scuttlebut on the July 7 announcement? There seems to be a real dearth of buzz right now.

    July 7th

ISn't it obvious to anyone else what the July 7th announcement will be? Steve is going to come out, and say "gotcha" to the entire world. Apple isn't really switching to Intel CPUs; they pulled a fast one on everyone.

    Good show Apple!

    My Predict..

Apple just beats the street, and the stock falls 2-3% the next day.

    iPod refresh

They slipped the color iPods in, so he'll talk about that... then announce the expected upgrade of the shuffle to 2 or 4 GB.

Maybe a Mac mini refresh, probably not any faster but with a Radeon 9600 SE to support Core Image fully.

    OMG!

I can't believe this! Apple is going to announce earnings on the second wednesday after the end of the quarter, and AFTER the markets have closed (well, closed to 'normal' investors, you know, the ones who never make any money). This has got to be the scoop of the century!

Next thing you know, you'll be telling us they'll have a conference call at this time to discuss particulars and answer questions.

Keep in mind that Apple stated previously that they no longer will break down computer sales by market or model, as they're getting too embarrassed about how poorly the PMac G5s are selling.

I'd like to know how much its costing Apple to fix all those broken and crappily designed iMac G5s that keep breaking and breaking and breaking. You'd think they'd hired the designer of the Ford Pinto, the way these things are falling apart.

Me, I predict that, at some time during the conference call, someone at Apple will state "Apple does not comment on unannounced products" which is more telling then most of what is said.
