FolderShare 2.5
ByteTaxi today announced the release of , a file sharing and synchronization service that works with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux computers. The FolderShare service allows customers to securely share and automatically synchronize folders between computers and network devices through the Internet, and enables private, remote access to files via a Web browser. When a shared file is created, changed or deleted, FolderShare automatically ensures that each computer and device sharing the file has the latest copy. FolderShare 2.5 includes several enhancements over previous versions, to improve the efficiency of sharing and syncing files across multiple computers. FolderShare is currently available starting at $50 a year.
Key features of FolderShare 2.5 include:
Multi-platform support: Allows individuals and businesses to securely share and automatically synchronize files between Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux computers. Linux capability currently includes support for the soon-to-be released Iomega StorCenter Network Hard Drive. Support for computers and servers running Linux will be available in Q4.
Remote Desktop Search Capabilities: Allows Google Desktop Search users to search for files on all of their computers at the same time and view the results on the same page.
"File Difference" Support: FolderShare's file difference support benefits users who need to share large files (like video and other multimedia). FolderShare transmits just the changed parts of the file instead of the entire file, sharply reducing the impact on bandwidth and file transfer time.
Remote Access: Allows users to access all files on their computers remotely and securely from any web browser.
256-bit Encryption: Ensures file transfers are secure.
Support for Iomega StorCenter Network Hard Drives: FolderShare 2.5 will ship with and operate on next-generation network hard drives from Iomega.
