    iPod Hysteria

Okay. So you can stuff tons of data on your iPod and use it to steal data from or defraud your company. It's only a matter of weeks or days now till we get yet another edict from Corporate Security that forbids employees to bring their iPods into the building. Just like we forbid them to bring in camera phones.

Yet the boneheads who make these kneejerk decisions fail to realize that we can still bring in flash drives built into ink pens, and they haven't forbidden the use of full-size digital cameras.

People who want to steal are going to steal. Banning technology doesn't solve the problem - securing your systems and getting rid of security-poor platforms such as Microsoft Windows does.
