    cool!

uh, how is this number printed on the cups?

what is to stop me from going to the 7-11, looking at a "specially-marked cup", memorizing the 12 digit code on the cup (12 digits! I can memorize that EASY!), then go home and use it without buying the stupid Squishee or Slurpee or whatever?

hahaha I can't wait to get my free iTunes songs! Thanks Apu! Please come again!

News flash: How to get free 7-11 iTunes codes!

No longer do you need to tip the bottle - with the most recent iTunes promotion felons can now just grab a stack of Slurpee cups and run - every cup is a winner.

    Mr. Jobs...

You're a vegan. You're known for giving away Power Bars to children who go Trick or Treat-ing in your neighborhood. You certainly do know how to eat healthy.

So why is it when you set up iTunes promotions, you try to lure people to the most sugary-c*** drinks in existence, Pepsi and Slurpees? Would you drink a Slurpee? Do you let your kids drink Slurpees? I'm not so sure.

    Purchase

Also, does one actually need to buy the sugary c***? The bottom of the promotion page says "No purchase necessary", but the alternate means of entry are nowhere to be found in the rules on that page (there's supposed to be an additional "rules.html" page, but it's missing). Aren't these kinds of contests and offers required by law to provide entry without purchase? Usually you can send in a card or something.

Just another Ralf_Wiggum - you can be me too.

Because (a) they can only market with those who want to do it, and (b) if they did a cross-marketing promotion with Silk or Bob's Veggie Burgers, only 16 health-nuts would buy it, and then you've just wasted a multi-million dollar marketing blitz on 16 people.

You go where the money is. And that's teens. And that's sugar-water and junk food.

    The interesting thing

The interesting thing here are the sponsors of this promotion... 7-11 and Coca Cola. After the Pepsi promotion, and Coke trying their own store, could this be a sign of Coke realizing that Apple dominates the online music market?

bwah hahaha go for it 7-11

yes please prosecute me for looking at the number on the cup. And sue me for 99 cents.

Really, I feel bad for the poor store clerks, they have too much to do already and a week into this promotion, corporate is going to tell them, "don't let people look at the cups! Yell at them if they handle the cups but don't buy!"

    ideas

on my way home from work i stopped by the closest 7-11 and took a look to see where the numbers are on the cup. they are clearly stamped beneath the promotion graphic. here are a couple ideas as to how you could capture these numbers without actually taking the entire cup:

    1. snap a photo of the number with your cell phone. 2. type the number with a text message on your cell phone. 3. record a voice silently reading the code into your ipod microphone

the only thing that will suck is the poor b****** who does redeem the now used numbers, because the cups would still be there if you did any other above ideas. so i picked up about 5 cups for free with my slurpy purchase and said we need them. the girl behind the counter really could have cared less.

After you send in the card or envelope, plus a stamp, is it worth the bother?
