Apple Store Genius Bars
Apple's Genius Bars are the , according to an article in The New York Post. Noting that the Apple Store SoHo has extended its Genius Bar hours until midnight (Monday thru Saturday), the report says that crowd at the store is more than reminscent of a singles bar: "So goes a typical tension-filled encounter at the Apple Store's Genius Bar, where the men of the help desk have become a draw for New York's damsels in hard-drive distress. Single women are having their rescue fantasies fueled by the suprisingly chatty, sociable Mac daddies, some of whom look more like members of the Strokes than the cast of 'Revenge of the Nerds.'"

Is this the tech version of the Home Depot pickup scene?
Why is it sad?
News Flash: Some people NEVER go near bars and clubs.
In New York, bar conversations invariably boil down to screaming, literally (since you can't hear over the noise and bad music), about real estate... what neighborhood you live in, building type, size of apartment, how much rent you pay. I'm dead serious.
So, why not try to meet people with similar interests. And why not the Genius Bar? If you're stuck waiting, why not strike up a conversation? SoHo is the hub of tons of content creation... advertising, music, film, video, publishing, architecture, etc. There ARE lots of interesting people at the SoHo store doing interesting things, even with their Macs.
Jedlink must be jealous of not living in New York, stuck trolling WalMart...

Well, the Genuis Bar in San Francisco is often staffed by at least a few hotties. Even some of the sales people are physically appealing and smart to boot! I just can't get them to cross that customer/client barrier, although sometimes it seem like they might like to. What do I have to do, write my phone number on my cleavage? Walk in there with some of those white apple bumper stickers as pasties?
New Yorkers are more aggressive and blessedly uncomplicated with their dating scene, let me tell you. They're not hobbled by trying to be PC. (Politically Correct, what did you think I meant?)

Believe me, I'm not jealous of living in New York. I'm from Chicago, a far better city in almost every respect. I don't go to bars or clubs either. I was just stating that it was sad the way it was described.

Wow. If you don't think that this above is sad, then I don't know what to tell you.

first of all, this article is from the post. so take every syllable with a grain of salt. i think there's a little hyperbole going on in there, somewhere. just maybe. second, this is far from the first article declaring the SoHo Genius Bar _the_ place to see and be seen. thirdly, wtf is the point of the article anyway, aside from humor? (the humor mostly being in that it's poorly written)

I think the real question is, who's more attractive? Mac Geniuses or PC Geniuses?
