    ANSWER IS

    Buy CDs.

What makes humans so dumb? These are the same people that think MP3s sound just as good as CD-Audio. Somehow I find satisfaction in the fact that so many have been sucked into the on-line music trap. I have an iPod. I've never purchased iTunes music. I'm happy. Why are some people so good at writing and so bad at reading? Bloggers.

"But keeping the iTunes system a proprietary technology..."

Uhm, and WMA isn't proprietary? Just because MS based music stores let you use multiple players doesn't mean that they are open - hey they only work on one platform.

I could understand if she wanted Apple to let other players be Fairplay compatible, but she really wants the iPod to be WMA DRM compatible.

Interesting but Walmart won't let me buy any songs from them. I MUST use Internet Exploder ver. 5.5 - but wait - there is no IE 5.5 for the Mac OS... Anyone know what music file format WallyWorld uses for their online downloads?

Be warned... I ordered tatus over a month ago, and they have still not shipped. I had to contact them myself, after two separate delays, to find out what was happening to my order. They have generally been cooperative in responding to my questions, but the advertised 1-2 week delay is definitely not correct. Check before ordering, to see if they have your tatu in stock...

    This is the same Hillary

that wanted nothing to do with music downloads, rather wanted to put music fans in jail.

Amything she says is pure drivel. I can't beleive anyone would hire her for anything.

    Hillary doesn't get it

For one thing you can't rent or buy music from those others using a Mac. You can't even access there sites. So how do you accuse Apple of being propriatary. For another, who wants to rent music in the first place? Not me that's for sure. What is better about those other sites in the first place? Apple has the largest selection of music out there. You can't find it on iTunes you probably can't find it period. Or do like another user posted. Buy CD's if you can't find what you want. Apple has the broadest DRM out there and I've had no problems with it.

    iPods as Gifts

an iPod should never be a gift, unless the person giving the gift knows the reciever wants one. The iPod is a choice that should be made by the user, it does only work a certain way (although the most convienient way I've ever seen). Granted all the complaints this person has made are true, but I was an early adopter of the iPod (1G), long before the iTunes music store even existed, but I knew going into it that the iPod only works with MP3 format and a few others at that time, not the ones being sold on other sites, My question is, why has the closed WMA format not opened itself up a little.

I do believe that Apple needs to open Fairplay up I mean Apple said themselves they don't really Make money with the iTMS, but that doesn't mean they should lose money. But the iTMS has most of the music I've ever wanted, and since I cannot buy the Beatles on there, I simply bought the CDs. (BTW Apple, if it turns out Michael Jackson has to sell off his Beatles Catalogs to pay for the lawsuit, you should jump on that first) But otherwise the iTMS has an enormous collection of music and the excuse that they don't have songs that you want is kind of a lame excuse.

    sigh

I agree with Hilary a little. There was another article out today which believed that Apple is going to allow iPod clones so maybe this is all going to be fixed anyway.
