iPod halo effect a myth?

updated 05:00 pm EDT, Mon May 2, 2005

Forbes on AAPL

Analyst Rob Enderle says the so-called . A Forbes column quotes Enderle as saying that the iPod simply drives traffic to its stores "and the foot traffic helps move product. The iPod benefits the entire Apple product line, but Apple could have done the same thing by having Paris Hilton, or some other celebrity, visit the Apple stores." The column says that Apple's battle to gain marketshare is a lost cause given its extremely small marketshare of 2 percent last year, but that "Apple is at least back to pretending there's a race with Microsoft in terms of advanced features.... And Apple CEO Steve Jobs loves to dig at Microsoft every time he talks about it. At this point, Apple seems to have the upper hand. Microsoft is constantly revising--reducing mostly--the features that will appear in Longhorn."

    All knowing

Ah yes, more words of wisdom from an all knowing anal-yst. Just like a 600% rise in profit, and the whipping of anal-yst EPS estimates by 10 cents for the quarter is a bad thing.

    The SHILL Speaks

I wonder how much Microsoft pays him to spew such drivel?

    paris hilton, eh?

So for Paris Hilton to have the same "halo effect" as the iPod on Apple Retail Outlets, she would have to simultaneously be in every Apple Store, as the iPod is. So Apple would have to clone her over a 100 times. With 100+ Paris Hilton's running around, we could all have a go with her!

(that is, if the thought of that doesn't sicken you)

    Paris

Well say what you want about analysts, you won't offend me, but I would rather find Paris Hilton at the Apple store than an iPod....

Never thought I'd say this, but we have finally found a bigger w**** than Paris Hilton: Rob Enderle.

Hey, I'm sure that for 250 and up, Paris could provide a service to you. However, in the long run, Ipon would be a cheaper distraction.

    OK...

So there is no halo effect, its just that iPods are making people visit apple stores and buy more apple products.... WTF THAT IS A HALO EFFECT!

And clearly this guy hates Apple and loves MS.
