van rijn, MacNN is not claiming that being able to buy a G5 without a modem is new; they are pointing out that it is no longer a standard feature. In the past, the modem was included in the price of the base models, and it could then be removed in the build to order options, and the total would be adjusted accordingly.

Now how am I going to use the terminal program in Clarisworks to transfer files to my service borough????!!!!!
Perhaps I missed it, but a modem is the only way to use Tiger's enhanced faxing capabilities. That's the only reason I use a modem.
