    No pismo?

I think the key is Firewire. The Tech Spechs lists....

Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 processor
    Built-in FireWire

Pismo is G3 with built in Firewire, so I think it will be compatible.

    Firewire is a milestone

My suspicion is that FireWire itself isn't actually required. The inclusion of FireWire is probably just a handy milestone, to measure how advanced a system is.

(For instance, the special edition iBook is actually a more recent model than most of the G3 PowerBooks, with newer technology.)

Having a nice simple rule to check against (Does it have FireWire?) is a simple requirement. Saying "Pro desktops after XXXX, Pro laptops after x**, Consumer desktops after x**, and Consumer laptops after x**" would be a bit cumbersome.

    Re: no pismo

That's what I hate about people using the internal names for the machines. When someone says Pismo, I have no clue what laptop they're talking about. Same problem with "Sawtooth".

The question to the pismo owner should be something simple: Does you pismo have firewire? if so, its supported. if not, its not. That was tough to figure out, huh?

    benchmarks

Well, not sure how much you can trust the benchmarks. I mean, they show CPU performance boosts on three laptop models. Can an OS actually boost CPU speed?

"Does you" understand the question? Apple, for some reason, did not include the powerbook G3 series firewire even though it sounds like it will suport Tiger. Does that mean that the video RAM is incompatible? The bus speed? The ROM size? The RAM specs? or Is it simply listed as "unsupported" but may work? Fortunately, it wasn't tough for you to figure out since you are on the development team and have intimate knowledge of the pretesting process.

"Does you" ;-) read the list in question? Yes they did include the powerbook G3 series firewire. It was listed as the PowerBook G3 (firewire).
