Dr. Elizabeth Kerr, Director of Science and Technology Markets at Apple, will discuss Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger at , on May 18th. Apple says it "continues to provide innovative desktop and server solutions for research and development, offering the most robust, powerful and easy-to-use UNIX systems in the industry today." Now in its fourth major release, Mac OS X provides "a plethora of productivity, performance and usability enhancements and puts the Macintosh squarely ahead of other UNIX systems for scientific use." Dr. Kerr will demonstrate and discuss some of the latest features of the operating system, including Spotlight searching, Automator workflow automation and Xgrid-based distributed computing.
