Top Mac-related failures

MLAgazine has compiled a list of the top ten . "Apple and its compatriots have been highly innovative. These companies have proven that even if their ideas are well implemented, they cannot always promote them correctly. Other times, a good idea is implemented poorly, and despite their best marketing effort, the product fails." The products listed include Apple Pippin, OpenDoc, Mac TV, Mac XL/Lisa, Microsoft Word 6.0, Copland, eWorld, Puck Mouse/Kiddie Keyboard, Flower Power/Blue Dalmatian iMacs, the original Macintosh Portable.

    And this is interesting..

how? Lots of technology companies have products that bomb. Apple is no different except their failures are still cool.

Is the writer of this article from a foreign country? Do they have grammar check? The information's somewhat interesting, but the presentation is terrible. The author tells the story poorly at points, and errors of the grammatical kind, as well as errors of omission, are rife throughout the column.

    Whatever...

Some questionable choices. Actually, the majority of the products mentioned came out WAY too soon.
Word 6? A Microsoft kludge... so what else is new? Dalmation iMac? c'mon, that's like complaining about a green car.

OpenDoc, like the Newton was actually way ahead of it's time. The concept was fantastic, but, like the Newton it lacked polish and focus when it was first... released is a bad word... trickled out is more apt. So, Apple killed it before letting it blossom. Actually, if it was around now with the power and flexibility of Mac OS X, it might actually get some traction.

    A hockey puck mouse

NHL logo...ice cold vulcanized rubber w/ team logo...now that would be cool. The round apple mouse w/ the popular misnomer...terrible, but funny how the color schemes were copied by everyone. The issues here are generally weak and 'failure' is far to subjective. Choice is good and people liked some of those colors so what's the problem?

    I am the author...

I am the author of the article. I decided to include Word as it kept many people away from the Mac. I already featured the Newton in another article, and decided not to mention it again.
