iTunes-compatible phone

Motorola today announced its the phone in early January.

"We're committed to have iTunes as the default music client, but we'll also continue to support other music players such as RealPlayer (from RealNetworks), Husaini said.

Motorola also announced three new successors to popular RAZR flip phone and demonstrated how new mobile network technology can boost the speed of a 3G network so that 10 songs can be downloaded onto a phone in less than a minute.

At the same event, Microsoft and Nokia also made announcements regarding a new mobile music platform for wireless operators and Apple and European telecom company Telca announced a "system integration relationship," which will make Teleca "a preferred system integrator of Apple media creation and delivery solutions in the European telecommunications market."

At least that how it should be spelled, but then, Motrola has a nice transformer sounding thang to it.

    What about that lawsuit?

So what happens to that lawsuit, that was filed in France for iTunes being limited to certain players... here is a new one.

    Yeah, but

What's the odds my cell phone provider's going to give me one of these free/cheap when I upgrade my phone next time? Because I'm not spending a couple of hundred dollars on a stupid phone just so I can also hear some music. That would be a complete waste o' money.

    not enough features

Good point, testudo. If I can't upgrade to a free phone with iTunes, a 10 megapixel camera in it and an automatic dog-walker, what's the point? I mean, what else would I use a phone for?

    Battery Life?

As if battery life in my cell phone isn't short enough, now they want to stuff more miniature lunacies like this into them.

Leave out the music players, web browsers, camera and just give me a damn phone that seamlessly syncs with my Mac and a battery that doesn't die after 2 or 3 or 4 hours.

Well, I don't use my mobile phone 18 hours a day, so spending $$$ on one just so it can also play some music is pointless (as is spending $$$ so I can take pictures, I thought that's what my camera was for, and I don't have a dog, so they can keep their dog-walking stuff too). Of course, I also find the concept of internet surfing via a phone, or downloading games and ring tones, all to be pointless wastes of good money, so I guess I'm just way out of touch.

    JeffHarris/Battery life

Someone has - unfortunately its sony. I have a sony T637 and I love it - I can bluetooth sync data with my laptop. It'll also, infrared sync with my palm. the battery lasts forever - I've gone 2 days without recharging and still had 30% left in the indicator. the phone was pricey, but I got a sweet rebate and it ended up only running me $30.
