Apple Store celeb stories

Apple has four retail stores in the Los Angeles area, which give the sales associates ample opportunity to rub elbows with , reports Wired News. Not all celebrity encounters have been positive, according to anonymous staffers, who report awkward encounters with everyone from Melanie Griffith to LeVar Burton. One sales associate says Griffith came right up to him and "pretty much demanded" a pink iPod mini. The mini was in short supply, and the associate told her there were none in stock. Fred Durst also knows how to rub store associates the wrong way, as was the case when he exercised a $1 discount on an iPod cable. However staffers said most stars who come into stores are "nice and friendly." Andre Benjamin from Outkast graciously posed for one photograph after another when visiting the Apple Store. The Daily Show's Jon Stewart "finds what he wants, smiles and leaves."

    What a horrible article

apple employees berating celebrity customers... geeeezus.

i find the kevin smith thing to be extremely out of character. i've seen him around and he's never been anything but pleasant/personable.

Andre 3000s blurb sounds about right though. he's one of the coolest cats on the planet.

    Heaven forbid

Who cares if Fred Durst uses his discount or not?

I hate the notion that if you have some money, you're supposed to always pay the most amount of money for an item.

And Melanie "pretty much demanded"? What a joke. Maybe she was pissed that the store features numerous pink iPod Minis, yet won''t sell those particular ones to people.

It's obvious these Apple store dweebs can't handle reality in a celbrity's presence. Hopefully Apple will take action here and fire those dweebie clerks who are whining to the media that they counted Keifer Sutherland saying "thank you" 40 times.

    What a dumb article.

So, some anonymous clerks don't like some of the stars who shop at the Apple Store. Big deal. I bet they don't like the same percentage of customers.

    re: Heaven forbid

Yeah they were kinda stupid to call out Fred Durst for that, whatever. But Melanie Griffith according to the article was acting like a diva biotch (just like LeVar Burton, wow). I guess that's how they expect to be treated but to me they're just normal people so they don't deserve any more than any other customer.

Myself, I've ran into Jon Stewart in the NY Soho store. Very low key kind of guy, didn't attract attention to himself, just walked in, looked around, bought his stuff and left, exactly like the story said.

"...celebrity stories are kept pretty quiet by the store employees. Apple's no-comment policy on celebrities seems reasonable."

Haha, until now, I guess. If those employees should be fired for anything it should be talking c*** about customers, by name, to a magazine.

    Invent

Let's hope she doesn't bring another awful campaign like "Invent" to Apple. Then again, you can't get much worse than "Think Different," so if Apple decides to bring back a short slogan, she can only improve.

    um

Celebs should expect web reports of any of their public actions. Check out BitterWaitress.com for numerous stories.

    WTF cares

Who really gives a c*** how people who, for some stupid-a** reason, some people consider to be celebrities, act, let alone do anything else (no, I don't care what anyone wears at the oscars, nor do I care who's dating whom, who's going to what party, etc.) People in music, movies, etc, should expect absolutely no extra help then any other consumer (oh, yes, we'd like to help you sir, but Will Smith is here, so get the h*** out!). It just amazes me how much time people spend on such stupidity as the whole 'brad/jen' thing (which you can't avoid no matter what you try to ignore).

Of course I should say I wouldn't recognize any of these 'celebrities' if they had walked into a store. But then I take pride in that.

Apparently you're posting to the wrong article. Did you intend to post about Allison Johnson moving to Apple?
