Chinese-language pop music available at Apple's iTMS

Chinese tracks on iTunes


Apple and Universal Music are in 15 countries, including the US, UK and Canada.... The move represents Universal's faith in the continuing growth of the legal download market. The launch, to coincide with the Chinese lunar new year tomorrow, is aimed especially at the big overseas Chinese population, which has been able to access the music in physical form only through a limited number of specialist retailers."

    Now if they'd only do with with Japanese Pop (J-Pop) I'd be happy... L'arc en Ciel, Hikaru Utada, et cetera.

    Ditto on the J-Pop

    I hope that this signifies a general trend to provide more international music options.

    J-Pop and anime soundtracks would certainly be welcome. I would gladly have paid $10 for Kenji Kawai's soundtrack for GOTS 2, but when confronted with Amazon's $48 import price, I went straight to a Bit Torrent site without hesitation.

    iTMS Hong Kong?

    Quite an irony, as somehow they are not doing iTMS Hong Kong. Local news said the distributors are going for WMA in Hong Kong.....

    Import price

    As ridiculous as that is, they aren't much cheaper when you buy in Japan. Well OK, maybe around $30-$35, but still far more than $10.

    But on the other hand, in Japan rental is an option ;-)
