Mac Media Center Project
The aims to develop a "Media Center" software suite that will enable users to connect their Macs to a home theater system. The Mac mini is the primary focus of the project, due to its low cost and small form factor. The Mac Media Center (MMC) project is being developed under the GPL, with the goal of keeping it free. The project is researching 5.1 audio, remote control and video output solutions. Already, 'Konfabulator' front ends have been created for most of the iLife applications.

Does the Mac Mini even output the right video resolution/aspect ratio for ED/HDTV sets?
Also, where is the digital audio out?

I think there are FireWire solutions to accomplish this, or you can bet there will be in the near future! I do know there is a FireWire solution for outputting 5.1 digital audio...
Apple, if you build it, they will come!

The mini's cheap, but once you start adding in all the external equipemnt, how much of a deal is it going to be? And how 'nice' is it going to look on the TV, with all those third-party products?
