Brother products at MWSF

showed several new products at Macworld Expo San Francisco this week. New items included the low-profile color inkjet flatbed Multi-Function Center models, a new personal fax machine for personal home use, the ultra-compact HL-2040 and HL-2070N laser printers, and the new business-class color inkjet Multi-Function Center.

Brother has introduced its next generation of low-profile color inkjet flatbed Multi-Function Center models. Included in the launch are the new MFC210c, MFC-420cn and MFC-620cn. This new line-up combines a low-profile design with a strong array of unique features. The new units are as low as 5.3" in height, offer 6000 x 1200 dpi photo-quality output, fast print speeds of up to 20ppm for monochrome and up to 15ppm for color, built-in stand-alone fax function on each model, an automatic document feeder, and built-in Ethernet. The MFC-210c, MFC-420cn, and MFC-620cn have estimated street pricing of $130, $150 and $200.

Brother also introduced a new personal fax machine for personal home use. The new Fax-575 is a compact, stylish, plain-paper fax that supports automatic fax/telephone switching for single phone line users and offers a selection of flexible answer modes to meet individual needs. At an estimated street price of $50, the Fax-575 offers a full complement of standard features including a 25 page memory for out-of-paper reception and memory transmission applications. This model also supports 104-station auto dialing and can broadcast a single fax to up to 104 locations. Call Waiting/Caller ID and Distinctive Ring Detection is another of its useful features and it is available to users subscribing to these local telephone company services. Brother's Fax-575 is slated for availability beginning this month.

Also introduced were the company's newest personal laser printers, the ultra-compact HL-2040 and HL-2070N. The HL-2040 ($150) is the successor to the HL-1440 personal laser printer, with even faster print speeds and a space-saving design almost 40% smaller than its predecessor. The HL-2070N ($300) features the same small footprint and print speeds and adds a built-in Ethernet print server for sharing on home and home office wired or wireless networks. The new models will be available starting this month.

Finally, Brother unveiled four new business-class color inkjet Multi-Function Center (MFC) products targeting home office and small business users. Pricing ranges from $150 to $200. Three of the four models include a standard network (Ethernet) interface. The new line-up includes two traditional sheet-fed based models: the MFC-3240c and MFC-3340cn, and two flatbed models: the MFC-5440cn and MFC-5840cn. Each model in the line-up provides a home office or small office with 33.6K bps color faxing, up to 6000x1200 dpi color printing, color copying, color scanning and PC Faxing.
