Wow...

Their stock dropped $4.40.

I'm not sure about the Verne Troyer Mac (a G4???), but I'd buy a Shuffle. I guess they're waiting for the initial reaction before rolling out colored ones...

I wonder...

...How Snappy the new mini is. I bet is IS snappy! I like snappy. Snappy is good. I named both my son and daughter Snappy. Dogs too. Nickname for my wife, and it makes calling everyone to dinner a bit, well, snappier!

Whenever I click on "Watch it Now", I get asked for my username and password for neotest.apple.qtv or something like that... What username? What password? Who's neotest?

The future...

Well if you had Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) the bandwidth need for the video you are seeing would 4x less (if they used H.264)... so the future does make things better, it just isn't shipping yet.

It happens every Mac expo. Definitely a pattern - sell AAPL on good news. I'm sure the short sellers and Call writers make money every time knowing that the blind devoteds will buy on Expo news.

Disappointing...

Apple's offerings today on the whole are disappointing, with possible exception of the miniMac.

iLife2? Yawn... Then again I don't use iLife1 very much except iTunes.

iWork? Yawn... Office is a standard still, and vital for cross platform interactions (a reality - like it or not).

Macmini... Good potential, but what use is it with iLife2 (or iLife1) if there is no friggin' audio in port.

iShuffle??! - Puh-leeze! What a waste of hype and potential. No friggin' screen? No control of what to download or play? This shuffle thing is a feature on most mp3 players I've seen. This is not a competitive product I'm afraid - poor in features.

Where are the G5 PowerBooks? Was there even a speed bump line released? Apple is falling behind in power user expectations...

I'm sorry - but the computer savvy public is starting to see that the emporer has no clothes. Apple better stop wasting money and effort on lawsuits vs. rumor sites and focus on real innovations.

Mac Mini Tech data.....

Where do you ask questions like:

What is the pin voltages for the power adapter plug? (looks like there is several different one's and a new strange plug )

Can you power up ( boot ) the Mac Mini another way besides the power button ( on the back ) and can you eject the cd/dvd ( no button at all )

Why....Car Installations....

iCab is still the ONLY browser that allows u to download this file to Hard Disk.

In Other browsers the movie loads in the web page if the browser has the QT plug enabled. If the QT plug is disable pasting the link in the URL field and hitting enter causes the browsers ALL to still try loading the link in the web browsers page.

It forwards to some bjork page. I guess either it's been moved since the posting or I am just not able to download it the right way.

My G4/800 iMac has no audio in yet I use it all the time with iLife. Works great for DVD's and video editing. My only issue is the 1024x768 screen, but 3 years ago that was the norm.

I'm seriously thinking of this as an upgrade...

Notice these products are new. Apple uses expo keynotes nowadays to release new products or new/upgraded software. Know why? Mac sales would drop substantially the weeks before the expo, though they probably still do. Nevertheless, Apple likes to spring upgrades upon us... nearly at random.

Though I am with you on the fact they need to freaking upgrade their Power[Product]s. Off the top of my head, I don't know how old the PowerMacs are though I think they're older than 6 months and the PowerBooks were last upgraded in APRIL!!!! They were upgrading PBs more frequently. I assume there must still be problems with stuffing those G5s into PowerBooks. I've really been thrusting for a PowerBook... my power iBook (500Mhz) is old, slow, and its battery won't hold a charge for more than 20 minutes!

The difference here...

is that the Cube was hideously expensive and the Mac mini is not. It needs additional RAM, though - 256mb is enough to run the basics, but to do any kind of productive multitasking 512mb or more is needed.

For umijin: Microsoft Office is indeed the standard - for OFFICE stuff. Not all home folks (Apple's primary computer market, don't kid yourself) really want or need Entourage (Mail, iCal, and Address Book may be separate apps but they are easy to use), Word (compatible but has far too many features for home use), and Excel (what home user really does spreadsheets?). Pages is not geared at professionals - it encourages people to use their templates (which pros do with Office, but I digress) and looks to be far easier to use for the AppleWorks crowd who just want to do some simple word processing, simple page layout, with charts, graphs, and maybe a photo or two tossed in occasionally. They've designed it well toward that purpose, and at $79 (cheap for Keynote or Pages by themselves, really cheap with the two together) this should be a big seller.

iLife may not be useful for you but I quite frankly like making my own scrapbooks and videos. iPhoto and iMovie are great apps for their respective digital devices, iTunes is a great jukebox, and iDVD makes making custom DVDs really darn easy. For families and such these programs are really, really cool and are definitely worth $79.

GarageBand is worth $79 itself - truly the best low-end sequencer available on the Mac these days for people just getting into digital music. That it is "free" with the iLife package makes it all the more amazing. Eighty bucks and you've got taking pictures, making home videos, creating song playlists, making DVDs, and creating original music all covered. Lots of bang for the buck.

If all you want is iTunes, fortunately for you that sucker is FREE. :D

Hey, maybe I felt the same way . . . then I pulled up to the broadband this evening, and watched the Keynote.

I have absolutely no problem with anything after watching. By now, I hope you have. It's fascinating to watch.

Good job on the Shuffle (explanation for it and quality); kudos to Apple on that. I'm ordering iLife '05 for sure tonight . . .

Mac Mini me, please

The shuffle is going to kick serious butt on those flash MP3 players. What will be the point of any other music store then? Apple got this move SO right.

And I bought a Mac Mini the minute the Apple Store came back up this morning (actually, yesterday, now)... that is just an awesome value, even after pumping it up with RAM and a Superdrive and bluetooth to $900 for the better model... I cannot wait for it to get here!! ... and with iLife '05 included! And the size!!! The tiny form factor! I'm surprised Steve didn't gush on about this even longer during the keynote, but then the Sony President did take up a lot of the available time by stuttering and stammering.

I bought my

Mac Mini 1,42 with the SuperDrive Option and 1GB third part memory. Considering the iPod Shuffle as I like the shuffle funktion on my iPod Mini.
