Sonance iPort with video
today added support for the iPod photo to its iPort, its in-wall docking station for the iPod. The updated system will provide a video output, allowing photos and slide shows stored on the iPod photo to be displayed on TVs and monitors anywhere in a home entertainment system. The iPort with video enhancement is expected to be available in February and will support the iPod Photo and the 40GB Click-Wheel Pod, 20GB Click-Wheel iPod and iPod Mini; it is compatible with all of Sonance's systems, components, and accessories. The iPort now expands remote control to almost all of the iPod's functions, including accessing Playlists and Albums, and operating the player's Mute, Repeat, and Shuffle functions.
Remotely-controlling the iPod through the iPort requires a NaviPod IR receiver, which is not included. When used with in-home entertainment system, iPort offers iPod operation from any room that is part of the system. It works with whole-home audio systems from Sonance as well as other manufacturers and is designed to match the iPod's contours and styling while providing an ergonomic, secure, in-wall cradle for the player. It offers an electronic interface for audio, video, control, and provides power--allowing the player to respond to both remote control and front-panel operating commands--as well as charges its battery while docked.
The iPort chassis employs Sonance's RotoLock mounting system. Each iPort is shipped with a custom install accessory kit that contains all the hardware required for a complete installation for all compatible iPod models. The iPort with video enhancement including the custom install accessory kit is $600.
