AquaMinds has released NoteTaker 1.9, an update to its $70 productivity tool for working with unstructured, on-the-fly information. It can be used to organize, gather, share and publish personal notes, lists, information and project notebooks. It also features built-in web browsing. Version 1.9 offers enhanced voice memos with automatic bidirectional linking between recorded audio and text entries; spring-loaded tabs and drawer views for conveniently moving and dragging information to other pages; new 'Highlight & Summarize' features for creating personal search and index reports (dynamic hyperlinks); improved drag & support for reorganizing outlines; custom notebook covers, and more. NoteTaker also includes five free plug-in examples (demo Java applets) including Calc, DBquery, Sketchpad, Table and VisualMap.
Apple has quietly removed all mention of its entry-level Soundtrack music composition software from the Apple Store, providing evidence that the company no longer has plans to sell the software in its current form and confirming a report by AppleInsider that Apple has notified resellers that the product has an "end-of-life" status and that the company would no longer honor backorders, would not accept any new orders, and would not provide automatic order conversion. The audio application was introduced at Macworld Expo in July of 2003, is no longer available for sale from Apple Store. Apple debuted the product at a price of $300, but later reduced it to $200.
Hendrickson Software Components (HSC) today announced that it has added the ability to track down 'phishers' to its software for spam source tracing and reporting. "Sp@mX will detect the embedded links in the body of the email message, trace the domain, and include the domain, along with the spammer's information in an abuse complaint to the spammer's ISP in addition to law enforcement...Sp@mX can effectively reduce spam in their e-mail Inbox and on their network." HSC says that users typically see their spam levels drop to near zero within four weeks. Sp@mX works by automatically tracing the source of spam and reporting offenders to their respective Internet Service Providers. It is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux in both client ($20) and server ($400) editions.

Mien Software today released MediaEdit Pro 2, an application for simple movie editing. It offers an easy-to-use Project Organizer with unlimited levels of undos, an action history, non-destructive editing to quickly revert any step, direct-video painting, all-in-one editor (edits image, video, and audio), many transitions/filters, and support for many formats. Other features include pan/zoom/rotate of both video and still images, export/import from a DV camera, QuickTime-enabled export, stop-motion capture, onion skinning, audio waveform editing, a 'clip shelf' and more. The full versionis $60, while upgrades are $30 for a limited time.
Klipsch today introduced its compact, high-performance speaker system designed exclusively for the iPod. Compatible with both the iPod and iPod mini, the "plug and play" Klipsch iF fits almost anywhere and in any type of environment. The 2.1 configuration offers two Klipsch Reference Series RSX-3 satellite speakers, a dedicated subwoofer, docking station and RF remote, which can send signals through walls and floors. The subwoofer has a built-in Class D amplifier that distributes 200 watts of peak system power to each channel and also features a slot port and line level input. Each RSX-3 satellite is a two-way, magnetically shielded speaker that employs a 3.5-inch aluminum woofer and a 0.75-inch titanium dome compression driver coupled to an exclusive round MicroTractrix Horn, which creates the company's dynamic signature sound. It will ship in March for $400.
