MS-Sony partnership?

Microsoft may be looking to partner with another major player in the online music industry to better compete with Apple, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. Bill Gates said that in digital entertainment--both having "a lot of incentive to work together" in digital-music "infrastructure," including online-music services and protection against improper music copying, according to Reuters. Using the rhetoric of consumer choice, Gates said the iTunes/iPod system offers consumer virtually no choice. Gates, however, declined on possibility of a Microsoft partnership with Sony, using only the rhetoric of consumer choice when discussing the closed iTunes/iPod system.

    Choice?

Perhaps iTMS is locking you into an iPod, but MS is locking you into Windows.

    choice?

"The iTunes/iPod system offers consumer virtually no choice," Gates said, "unlike Microsoft where we are all about choice!"

    Oh please...

Microsoft has badgered the world into using its shoddy products. And its not just consumers. Governments and corporations are paralyzed from exploring other options because of Microsofts heavy-handed tactics and code designed to create lasting dependency. Consumer choice? Right, tell me another good one.

    I'm SURE

Sony wants to be saddled with the biggest anchor in the marketplace. Cool new products with WinCE, or maybe they'll wait for a few years for M$ to develop (read buy) something new, handhelds that crash or something Blub blub blub… I bet old Billy said that the subscription model is better too. The funny thing is how M$ tries to equate themselves with Apple. Apple and Sony are more akin as hardware innovators and vendors that develop software for their products, Apple's main product used to be only computers (still is for me I am iPodless and don't really want one) M$ really only makes computer operating systems that it is trying to jam into other people's commodity items as something else, friggin' parasite. Run Sony RUN!!!

    Um...

So much for someone's dication abilities. Translated from the original Hebrew script:

Bill Gates said that both Evil Incarnate and budding but promising Sony-vil could benefit from a broad partnership in digital entertainment--both having "the same goal of bait and switch" in digital-music "soul stealing," including driving other online-music services out of business and protection against fair rights music copying, according to Reuters.

    what was that Jobs said

He said it isn't about consumers having no choice because there are many choices of music stores and music players out there. He said "they" just don't like the choices consumers are making.

    Not gonna happen

Whether they like it or not, MS and Sony are competitors. Just wait til the PS3 and XBox 2 come out. Sony is a bigger pain in the butt than Apple. For now anyway.
