NeolithicOffice/J for OS X

(NeoOffice/J) is billed as a "reasonably stable" version of the OpenOffice.org office suite that has been specifically engineered to run natively on Mac OS X. The open-source software is available under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and is available for free. The softwware, which doesn't require X11 to run, is a double-clickable Mac OS X application. It also features much tighter integration with Mac OS X, including full support for Mac OS X fonts, international input, etc. The NeoOffice/J team has released a new version 1.1 beta version, which, among other things, moves the menus to where they belong, in the Mac menu bar.

    Try it out!

Been using the alphas of this for the last few months, and they've been making steady progress. A nice app- quite useable already

    Great work!

I'm impressed knowing how difficult this project has been for the few that are taking it on.

    Keep it up!

    Kudos

Many thanks to that group. As this gets polished and shines, I hope they know they are appreciated!

    hehe,
and i was about to complain that the app still looks like a windows app,
at least i should appreciate this exists,
but it bothers me because this coule really be a viable solution
to avoid spending $300 on MS OFFICE. . .
i think if more ppl worked on this app - the mac world would be a better place . . .
    thanks guys
    keep it up . . .
