updated 12:35 pm EST, Wed December 15, 2004

REALbasic dev tools

today released SlayFire Reality, the first suite of tools for REALbasic commercial and corporate software developers. The company says that SlayFire Reality dramatically accelerates developer and team productivity while delivering increases in performance, quality and reliability of REALbasic applications and components. SlayFire Reality automatically pinpoints errors, detects performanceproblems and exposes testing inadequacies. "Developers often spend over 50% of their time manually debugging code and researching performance issues. SlayFire Reality automates these activities, releasing time back to the developer while dramatically improving software performance and quality. [It] rivals the best of the C++ tools and adds a unique flexibility with RBScript". The Professional version ($400) of the suite includes SlayFire Optimizer ($180), SlayFire Interceptor ($180) and SlayFire Analyzer ($180).

"We believe SlayFire can make a significant productivity contribution to the
REALbasic development community, said Michele Deziel, CEO of SlayFire
Software. “SlayFire is based on years of experience in the Visual Basic
tools development market and we are using that expertise to bring a powerful
set of tools to REALbasic developers. The feedback from early adopters of
SlayFire Reality has confirmed that we are solving a real need for REALbasic
developers."

SlayFire Optimizer automatically locates performance bottlenecks in
applications and components and makes detailed recommendations to resolve
them. The optimizer allows developers to develop faster-running applications and components, freeing them to spend more time coding, according the developer. SlayFire Interceptor detects, diagnoses and repairs run-time exceptions in
applications and components and SlayFire Analyzer identifies testing inadequacies and automatically locates untested code, improving unit testing procedures, reduces testing times and provides greater confidence in software quality and more reliable applications and components.

"The availability of a code management tool suite like SlayFire Reality
fills a growing gap for REALbasic developers," stated Geoff Perlman,
president and CEO of REAL Software, Inc. "We are continuing our rigorous
testing, and we expect SlayFire Reality to be able to fully address the
promises of increased productivity and improved software quality – the two
most serious concerns for any software developer."
