Columnist leaves BW

In his final column, Alex Salkever writes about : "This is my last 'Byte of the Apple' for BusinessWeek Online. I started writing this column roughly three years ago. At the time, I didn't understand what I was getting into....I've learned a lot -- not least that writing about Apple is a more consuming activity than covering any other technology company. My greatest problem became too many things to write about. Of course, Apple CEO Jobs helped me along by doing amazing things. The flat-panel iMac, the iTunes Music Store, iPhoto, the iPod, and the G5 chip all were unveiled on my watch....And it's especially hard for me to walk away at a time when Apple's future looks brighter than ever."

    Good Riddance

The man was continually out-of-touch with Apple's corporate philosophy in his suggestions for its future.

    he was turned…

from the Dark Side, I can imagine the lure of catering to Emporer Gate's minions and serfs is strong in the publishing industry (lots more readers), anything positive is better than nothing, (Apple has some scars and some still festering gunshot wounds on their feet from their own guns, they have made many boneheaded moves in their day and still can). Out of touch as he was he will be missed, unless, of course, some young jedi takes his place, hey how 'bout that Rich Brooks from Miami? NOT!, hopefully he'll be looking for a job soon too hee hee

I wonder how many letters the editor / publisher got about that article. I have yet to get a response to the one I sent.

    More zealotry...

"The man was continually out-of-touch with Apple's corporate philosophy"

What? The journalist should be in touch with the company's philosophy? So someone covering the PC industry should follow the philosophy of Intel, Microsoft, and Dell?

"I can imagine the lure of catering to Emporer Gate's minions and serfs is strong in the publishing industry"

They have their talking heads but the rest is just your imagination. If anyone is to talking about an emperor and his minions and serfs, Apple users would be the first, second, and third in line.

"I have yet to get a response to the one I sent."

Get over it. Letters to the editor is just that - not correspondence with editors.

It is amazing how Mac users can attack others, including other Mac users like Alex Salkever.
