updated 10:25 am EDT, Fri October 29, 2004

Traktor Beatport Player

, a free audio player software for users of the Beatport online music store and announced Guitar Rig v1.2, an update to its digital guitar studio. Developed in close cooperation with partner company Beatport, the versatile Traktor Beatport audio player is based on the Traktor DJ Studio and features two decks with waveform displays, pitch faders, a crossfader, playlist features, and a music library and browser.

The Traktor Beatport Player supports a wide range of compressed and uncompressed file formats (MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, AIFF, and FLAC, as well as audio CDs) and can import iTunes playlists and collections as well as supports full-featured playback of Traktor mix files, which use sets of regular audio files to recreate full DJ performances recorded with Traktor DJ Studio. It will be available in November along with the launch of Beatport 2.0, the second generation of its online music store that promises to offer a "host of new features created specifically to better serve online dance music shoppers, including improved navigation, increased user customization, and added support for video files, ring tones, and DJ mix files."

NI also announced Guitar Rig v1.2, a forthcoming update that will bring four more stomp boxes to the guitarists arsenal--all painstakingly modelled after popular real world units. Offering two distinctive new flavours of both classic fuzz overdrive and powerful hi-gain distortion, version 1.2 improves the digital guitar studio with new "Fuzz Ace" (fuzz pedal based on Arbiter Fuzz Face), "Big Fuzz" (fuzz pedal based on Electro Harmonix Big Muff), "Cat" (distortion pedal based on ProCo Rat), and "Demon Distortion" (distortion pedal based on MXR Dime Distortion). It also includes more than 40 additional presets. The free update will be available in the first half of November.
