updated 12:20 pm EDT, Tue October 19, 2004

Targus Notebook ChillHub

Targus this week introduced the , a fan-based notebook cooling pad that features an integrated four-port USB 2.0 hub. The ChillHub addresses the excessive heat generation by implementing a two-fan cooling system to silently draw heat from the notebook and prevent the CPU from overheating during use (and may also prevent activation of the notebook's internal fans). The USB 2.0 hub features overcurrent protection on all four ports. The device weighs 18 ounces and measures 11.75 x 9" x 0.8", fitting directly under a notebook; it can be powered by the computer using the included upstream cable or by the included AC adapter and also features an on/off switch for its fan system. It is available for $50 and includes a one-year warranty.
