PowerProduction Software is shipping the new Mac OS X version of , the professional imaging software for turning ideas into creative blueprints and storyboards. The software allows pre-production ideas to be presented using a combination of imaging techniques, including drawing, photo import, other graphics, or using one of hundreds of bundled pre-drawn characters/props/locations. It includes drawing tools wih support alpha channel and color transparency as well as library palettes of new pre-drawn images. It offers a new Pan and Zoom feature to add intraframe pans, tilts and zooms as well as interframe timing and transitions, sound effects and music in the visually intuitive timeline. Quick ($280), Artist ($800) and Artist Studio ($1600) versions are available.
For Live Action Filmmakers, the Script Import (from screenplay software and word processing applications) offers a quick start to storyboarding scripted projects and can integrate script breakdown information. Each frame has multiple caption/data windows as part of the new database feature in StoryBoard Artist 4. For Animation projects, the batch image import and the Adobe Photoshop layer import features streamline image processing and handling. For Branching Interactive projects such as DVD and games, the linking feature allows multiple path media projects to be prototyped and tested by jumping between frames and exporting the non-linear concept to QuickTime and HTML.
A built-in layout interface allows users to choose to add stylized borders to customize output--which can be played as an animatic show, and also exported to standard graphics files and movies ready for import into digital editing applications such as Final Cut Pro and other NLE's.
