Apple vs. Apple lawsuit


Alex Salkever offers a look at the in his latest BusinessWeek column: "This time the outcome is far from a lock for Apple Corps. Make no mistake: There will be a settlement. No one benefits from pushing a case all the way through a full trial and appeals because the costs are prohibitive. But analyst predictions that the case could cost Apple Computer hundreds of millions of dollars in settlement payments, even the use of its own name on music products, are way out of line."

    Hundreads of Millions?

    Damn, I was thinking hundreads of thousands. Wonder if he made a typo. But hundreads of millions? Geez, it would be easier for Apple to sell or spin off iTunes than to give out hundreads of millions. Don't think iTunes/iPod makes them hundreads of millions.

    Not MIDI

    The article has it wrong. The second suit wasn't because Apple included MIDI (which I think they never did), it was because they added audio in/out.

    Carrot or Stick

    Do you give Apple Corp their own section on iTunes or do you lock them out? Just tack a "Settlement Surcharge" on each Beatle song.

    I would never buy a Beattles song after this. Damn, they have MORE THAN ENOUGH money, and Apple has an awesome product. If we all lose iTunes/iPod or Apple because Ringo, Paul and John and George's family want more money, I will be seriously angry with them.

    I say we all boycott everything from the Beattles!
