Just curious, what are the main reasons people get excited about games on the Mac?
Myself, I do love the odd game on my Mac for the sake of playing it anywhere/anytime, but I far prefer the various consoles for most games (I have DC/GC/N64/PS2/XBOX already).
Only biggie I can think of is for those games that have level editors, which adds a world of fun over merely playing on a console.
Splinter Cell is been there done that at this point, and I often wonder why people wait for the Mac port (assuming they do).
Not trolling, just curious.
Wow. I knew Mac games were later than their PC counterparts...but I finished Cell's sequel, Pandora Tomorrow, on the PC about 1/2 a year ago. And now the original is just coming out on the Mac?
Macs rule but this is crazy.
I dont own a console system, nor do I really have a desire for one. I find the graphics to be sub-par with anything I play on the Mac. Not to mention, I really dont like controllers. I feel they are for kids. I can use the keyboard and mouse much more effectively, especially in FPS games.
Also, Ive been playing Rainbox Six: raven Shield for a little while now and as soon as the maps started getting old, I just downloaded about 50 new ones. Unfortunately, you cant do that with console games.
I cant say that Ive been waiting for it. It looked like a cool game and I wanted to try it out. I'm a big fan of the other Clancy games, so I wanted to play this one too!
I hope that answered your questions
I sure could afford a console but I'd be much too afraid to be stuck on it all day long. I only have my Macs to play; so yes I have to wait for "new" releases to come out. As Mac users, we sure must wait longer but what eventually gets ported to the Macintosh is worth playing and I guess games that did not convince a wide public never gets to us.
I only have Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon which I really loved. Too bad some of the PC add-ons never made it to the Mac.
Because I have a mac, so therefore I can play games on it when I want. I don't own a console, nor feel the need for one, since I own a computer that can play games.
Then again, I have so little time to play games that I wouldn't get to this game for a couple of years, at least. So waiting isn't a big deal. I'm not one of those "OMG! A new game has been released! I just got to get it now! Because if I waited, say, 2 days, I'm going to pee my pants and shoot my brains out!"
Oh, and I've never been able to get the hang of using a mouse and keyboard with an FPS. Its always just keyboard for me. Then again, maybe I'm doing something wrong. I just can't see trying to move a character back and forth with a mouse, having to lift it up, move it back, and then drop it to get it to go further forward or left or whatever...
