AJA Kona LS

announced today Kona LS, a new Standard Definition capture card for professional post-production on the Power Mac G5 with Final Cut Pro. Kona LS is the newest member of AJA’s family of desktop video products for editing on the Power Mac G5.

Kona LS is a competitively priced digital/analog capture card with 10-bit quality throughout. "Built to the same broadcast engineering standards as all of AJA’s desktop video products and converters, Kona LS does not compromise on quality or support, providing the highest level of value possible." As with all Kona products, Kona LS will provide support for Final Cut Pro, Motion, Adobe After Effects, Combustion, Video Desktop, and more. Kona LS also supports 8/10 bit uncompressed, JPEG, DV25/50, and 3:2 pulldown for 24Hz support. Kona LS’s I/O connections are supported with supplied breakout cables.



Also available as an option is the KL-Box ($300), a rack mountable 1RU enclosure that supports all of Kona LS’s I/O connectors, making it easier to use. KL-Box has the added function of RCA-style audio out connectors. KL-Box easily fits in a studio facility rack or sits on top of a desktop editing setup.



AJA Video Systems also announced today that the company will show five digital converters that are new to IBC. One converter, the HDP HD-SDI/SDI to DVI-D and Audio converter, is making its worldwide debut at IBC. The four remaining converters have been released in recent months, "greatly expanding AJA’s already-extensive line of miniature and rack-mounted converters for the broadcast and post-production industries." These new converters, as well as AJA’s entire line of converters and desktop video products, can be seen in AJA’s stand, #7.710
