updated 11:15 pm EDT, Sun August 29, 2004

New Apple, HP iPod TV ads

Both Apple and HP on Sunday evening aired iPod TV commericals during the MTV Video Music Awards. Apple's iPod/iTunes commerical, dubbed ". According to readers, the commercial begins with a focus on the iPod's heirarchical menu ("You > Let > Musical > Worlds > Collide") followed by a diverse set of music scenes with a "colliding" music (i.e., the wrong genre for the setting). It closes with a voiceover: "You have all your favorite music living happily together in one place. Introducing the Apple iPod from HP. Your PC will never be the same again."

    Good Observation.

But let's just keep it among ourselves. Maybe it means HP invents new "ties" as oppose to the usual closed wintel circle. What ever it is, I think this is a great promotion for Apple coming from a well recognized PC company. Corporate ties and alliance is what Apple needs to be recognized as viable (and not alternative!) hardware company among PC users. It directly counters the biased criticisms hurled by wintel zealots. Great work Apple! HP we love your printers!

    misspelling

Apple spelled stereo "sterio". Is this a misspelling or does "sterio" mean something?

The groups name is "Steriogram", so Sterio is appropriate in this case.

    The HP iPod will hurt...

Apple iPod sales. PC companies routinely drop prices of their hardware dramatically. Eventually, their variant will go for around $200 easy, as HP takes on the brunt of Microsoft's assualt. While I won't go as far as saying the clone wars are back, the Apple iPod will see a significant decline.

    How can HP...

Hurt iPod sales when thats what they are doing...selling iPods! It helps Apple in the long run. No way is HP going to drop the price, because then they would have to sell it at a loss and make the difference up to Apple. In the big pcture, the whole thing works out great for Apple. Just in time too; we need to beat off Real and M$.
