RealNetworks' launches anti-Apple petition
RealNetworks' Freedom of Choice website, launched this morning as part of its effort to increase music sales and promote its new RealPlayer Harmony technology, took direct aim at Apple with its "Hey Apple, Don't Break My iPod!" online petition that rallied support the company's Harmony technology, which enables customers to playback non-iTunes files on their iPod (and other music players), however, RealNetworks' has modified the original text and replaced it with a revised petition, removing the ability post comments after dozens of pro-Apple supporters offered anti-RealNetworks opinions on the petition.

If Real was really all about "Freedom Of Choice" then
they would offer their content beyond the "Windows
Only" crowd.
I want to see Real practice what they preach. Give us
"Freedom Of Choice" and offer your goods to not only
just Windows, but Mac, Linux, Amiga and etc...
It's time to give consumers "Freedom Of Choice" and
finally break the "Windows Only" experience!
Real's "Freedom Of Choice" falls short in the true
meaning of the phrase. Consumer freedom spans beyond
just "Windows Only" and I think it's time that these
companies start realizing that.
http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?r4apple ... the original petition, with 731 comments as I post this.
I agree with those above, if Real was truly serious about "fair play", they'd release full-blown versions of their warez for Mac OS X and Linux
Their player is losing market and mind share to QuickTime and WMA.
Is it just a matter of time before Real just isn't?
Will this help counter Apple's lawsuit?
Yean, right! Get Real!
I bet we would get more signatures than Real.
Give it up Real. You guys are losing and have been for a while. Don't be a poor sport about it.
