today launched its next generation of low-profile color inkjet flatbed Multi-Function Center (MFC) models, including the new MFC-210c ($130), MFC-420cn ($150) and MFC-620cn ($200). The new line of compact all-in-ones offer up to 6000x1200 dpi photo-quality output, print speeds of up to 20ppm (monochrome) and up to 15ppm for color (draft mode), borderless printing for all standard photo sizes, standalone fax functions, digital memory media slots, USB 2.0 connectivity and a front-loading paper tray as well as a 10-page automatic document feeder and built-in Ethernet on the MFC 420cn and MFC-620cn models. Additionally, the MFC-620cn features a built-in telephone handset and up to 29 minute digital message center. They are expected to be available in September.

The MFC-210c features color printing, color copying, color scanning, color faxing, PC faxing and PhotoCapture Center technology. As a printer, it features faster print speeds than its predecessors with up to 20ppm for monochrome printing and up to 15ppm for color. It offers enhanced photo-quality printing with higher resolutions of up to 6000 x 1200 dpi, borderless printing for standard photo sizes, and includes a USB 2.0 full-speed interface. It produces quick color copies at up to 11cpm or black/white copies at up to 17cpm. The MFC-210c copies at up to a 1200 x 600 dpi, featuring reduction/enlargement ratios from 25% to 400% in 1% increments.

The MFC-210c also offers color flatbed scanner functions with up to 19,200 dpi interpolated resolution (600 x 2400 dpi optical) and 36-bit color depth. It includes Presto! PageManager for Mac users. The entry-level all-in-one also supports both color and black/white faxing using a built-in 14.4k bps high-speed fax modem with 20-station auto dialing, 8MB memory for up to 200 pages of out-of-paper reception, broadcasting up to 70 locations, and both Caller ID support and Distinctive Ring Detection.

Brother's new flatbed color inkjet MFCs add a front-loading paper tray, which holds up to 100 sheets. This new design feature makes reloading paper convenient and significantly contributes to its space-saving dimensions. PC-Fax functions are also available; however, Mac-compatibility is not cited.

The PhotoCapture Center feature of the MFC-210c allows printing of high-quality images directly from Memory Stick, xD-Picture Card, SmartMedia, CompactFlash and Secure Digital cards with or without a computer.
