Newsweek cover shows off new iPod

Steve Jobs is holding a new iPod, due for release Monday, on the cover of the July 26th issue of Newsweek. The new version of the iPod features a similar click-wheel to the iPod mini, 12 hours of battery life -- achieved through better conservation of power rather than a larger battery -- and multiple on-the-go playlists, among other features detailed in the cover story. The 20GB model replaces the 15GB for $300, while the 40GB model drops $100 to $400. There's no word on whether a rumored 60GB version will be announced or available at a later date. [updated]

Another article, covering the cultural phenomenon and impact on the music industry, is also available for reading.

In January 2002, an exclusive article in TIME magazine on Apple's then-unannounced flat-panel iMac was also inadvertantly leaked on the Web through an apparent snafu, unveiling Apple's revolutionary flat-panel iMac a few days before Steve Jobs was expected to publicly debut the iMac at Macworld Expo San Francisco.

Nothing new here. So the new iPod looks like the mini... so what?. Without news of features, this leak is useless. Steve won't care. He knows people will start pre-ordering them as soon as they are announced. And then we won't have then for 2-3 months.

How about an iMac G5 pic? That's a leak!

I hope that 3G owners aren't left in the cold like 1st and 2nds were when the 3G hit. I want the new software features (if any) that this will have. I like that shuffle songs menu. I wonder what else is new.
