    'Bout time

they got some good technology into Office Depot. It is so tiring to go in there and see nothing but constant indications of the "bottom-line mentality" of this country.

    Typical scenario

Customer: "Hi, I need to buy a computer... these Macs look interesting."
Employee: "No, you don't want a Mac. Check out these PC's over here."
Customer: "Why? My cousin has a Mac, and he likes it."
Employee: "There's no software available for them. See all that software on that wall over there? All for PC."
    Customer: "No kidding!"
Employee: "Plus, you're going to pay about $1,000 more for the Mac -- look at this nice PC you can have for only $497 after rebates!"
    Customer: "$500 -- that's a great deal!"
Employee: "Plus, it runs ALL the software in the world. With a Mac, you can only use the stuff that comes with the machine. There's pretty much nothing else available."
Customer: "Geez, thanks for stopping me from buying a Mac. Why are their machines such pieces of c***?"
Employee: "They just look nice, that's all. But they're mostly paperweights if you want to do any serious work. I mean, do you have a digital camera?"
Customer: "Yeah, of course I do!"
Employee: "Most digital cameras only work with PC's. Do you need to print documents?"
Customer: "Of course I need to print!"
Employee: "We don't have any printers that work with the Mac. Good luck trying to find one."
Customer: "So why do you carry these Macs then if they're such pieces of s***?"
Employee: "We had to make the deal with Apple so we could sell their iPods. But you don't want an iPod either."
Customer: "Why not? I hear they're really cool?"
Employee: "They only play their own proprietary format of songs, they only work with Macs, and once you put your music on an iPod, you can never get it onto any other device. They're real pieces of junk on the inside, even though they look beautiful on the outside."
Customer: "Thank God I came in to talk to you today. I love Office Depot and the helpful staff."
Employee: "Thanks. Would you mind filling out this comment card and letting my supervisors know how much you appreciate my help today?"
Customer: "Definitely. And I'll take that PC and that generic MP3 player over there."
Employee: "Perfect. We've got an extended warranty to go with that to."

    Woohoo!

Just what apple needs! Another crappy retailer like Circuit City to display their computers! Actually, its worse, because they'll be selling computers to people who think that because they need a computer for their office, they should buy it at an office supply store!

Hey, don't forget to get your replacement ink cartridges there, too. They're a steal at that price!

    iMac availability

Anyone find it odd Apple.com has no iMacs to sell, but Office Depot does?

    just maybe

Apple will this time put in an Apple Employee at Office Depot like they do at many CompUSAs to make sure sales go smoothly.

If they don't, you should let http://www.apple.com/contact/feedback.html

know that their marketing needs improvement at these stores.

    Poor Misinformed

Apple should allow 30 day trials for potential switchers. I have friends that "play" with a mac for maybe at most an hour and they think it's cool, but they're not convinced to buy one. The only way to really appreciate what a mac can do is to use it in your daily life. I know I will never look back...
