Apple's iPod mini to ship worldwide on July 24

Online Apple Stores across Europe are currently down as the company prepares the worldwide roll-out of the iPod mini, MacNN has learned. Pricing and availability are unknown at this point. In January, an Apple executive told The Guardian that Apple was looking at a U.K. price of £199 for the mini, a move that drew criticism as it represented almost a $50 premium over the U.S. price, including taxes. The iPod mini was originally scheduled to ship worldwide in April, but high demand and component shortages forced Apple to delay the release until July. Even today, new U.S. orders for minis face month-long backorders. Update: The iPod mini is now available in Europe for €279, in the U.K. for £179, in Japan for ¥28,140, and other regions (prices include tax). In Canada, the mini is available for C$349, excluding taxes but including the CPCC's Blank Media Levy of $15. Delivery is expected July 24.

In Switzerland the price is CHF 369.-, equivalent to about GBP 161 od EUR 245.-

I read reports that in the US there are shipping delays for the iPod mini extending into August. The cause may be that Apple has reserved a large batch for Europe. So there definitely is still a large demand over supply on a world-wide basis.

Mine is scheduled for shipping on 24 July.

Shipping internationally?

How the #&^$%! do they expect to keep up with international demand when they can't even meet domestic requests? The store I work at got five pink minis in January, and haven't seen so much as one more since. This reminds me of the debacle with the 500MHz Sawtooths. Is Apple insane, or just overextended and boxed in by shareholder demands?

and remember, HP wants to release their version this month, rumors indicate that HD yields are up but the demand keeps outstripping it and Apple is not the only customer. Patience, I guess if its worth having its worth waiting?!?

They corrected their misprint from April to July, then removed my post pointing it out.

That's a good idea. It saves from people insulting you believing you have poor reading comprehension skills.

Amazing...the iPod mini was announced less than six months ago (Friday will be six months), and already you've had yours for almost a year? How do you do it?

Umm, he said "almost half a year", as in, he got his day one (or there abouts).

And the HP thing has no bearing on this, since they're selling the iPod, not the mini, and they use different parts then the mini, so there should be no issue (I've not read anything about availability issues with the standard iPod, just the new cool looking one that everyone wants but no one can get).
