Apps: Firefox, OpenOffice


  • (free) brings several small enhancements to the Web browser, including extension and theme managers, improved bookmarks and search, and a smaller download.

  • OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 has been released for Mac OS X, which runs under the X11 windowing system and is said to be "stable enough for day-to-day use as your primary office productivity suite." The software requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later. A full list of changes is available here.

  • SilverKeeper 1.1.2 (free) adds Mac OS X 10.3.4 support and other small enhancements to LaCie's utility for backing up storage devices.

  • KidzLog 1.0b1 is a weblog publishing application designed for children. Canvas and painting tools allow children to draw their creations directly in the software, which can publish entries to Web and automatically updates an RSS feed. The beta is free and expires July 15; the final version will sell for $30.

  • WWDC Icon Set from DV Graphics is a free download and includes 16 icons of the new displays, Tiger CD, Automator head, and iChat AV.
