Slated to ship in the first half of 2005, Tiger includes over 150 new features, including a new search technology dubbed Spotlight, an RSS-specific version of Safari, improvements to iChat AV that allow one to video conference with three other users, and expanded 64-bit support. When Steve Jobs says Tiger is years ahead of Longhorn, I don't think a more literally-true statement has ever passed through his lips. Every indication from Redmond is that Longhorn = XP with a few snazzy new features bolted on. The 64-bit stuff -- not even on the horizon for Longhorn, that'll be in the one AFTER Longhorn. The spoken-control interfact -- no mention. The "spotlight" feature nicely usurps what was promised to be Longhorn's (yawn) major new improvement -- better searching. Dashboard? They've got nothing. Don't even get me started about iChat. Etc etc etc.

Face it, Windows users -- OS X is *just plain superior.*

    Like the 64 bits

64 bits is what I like. Looking forward to xcode 2.0.

But from the consumer standpoint I'm not sure its worth the $100+ for an upgrade. I mean 10.3 is pretty darn good as it stands.

Ya, dash board is cute. But when I look at new stuff with the apps its not getting it up for me.

I'll upgrade for the 64 bits...but I got to get the G5 first to justify it. :)

I want all the features of the latest g5 in a cube. No fan or moving parts. Make it smaller than a cube. Sheesh..

    My only hope...

I only hope that it's Snappier! That's all I want.

    Stolen applications

I'm not impressed at all. Spotlight is a total ripoff of Quicksilver:
    or Launchbar:
Dashboard is a rip off of Konfabulator:
Where is the innovation apple? Ripping people off is supposed to be microsoft's job. Most Major aspects of OS 10.4 can be downloaded for 10.3 today. New Displays are great and everything, but I can't use them on my ibook. Worst keynote ever.

    Reminds me of Watson

Remember Watson. Remember when apple completely copied watson in it's version of Sherlock. 10.4 Reminds me of when apple did this. Any good 3rd party application gets stolen by apple. Apple is basically saying they do not want small developers.
