    ghetto

I thought Apple only put retail stores in exclusive areas. Rancho Cucamonga is far from that, in my opinion.

    why so interesting?

Why the quotes around the apparantly interesting "open-air" mall? Many of the Apple stores in southern Cal are open-air... just about every new or refurbished mall is. I assume the author of this article has never been a CA native.

    Wohoo!

No more 2 hour drive to the Pasadena store! Rancho Cucamonga is the newest shopping area in the Inland Empire and near the crossroads of several freeways. I would have expected a store closer to Ontario (such as around Ontario Mills) but this makes sense (and is, in fact, closer for me).

As for the exclusive crack… Apple will go will the people and the money is. At least out here we can afford some discretionary funds for computing since we don't blow all our wad on overpriced housing.

But to put one in a run-of-the-mill strip mall would be a little out of the ordinary, and perhaps this is what the author meant. I don't know enough about this Victoria Gardens shopping center to say what kind it is.

    Hmm,

I know someone that will be really happy about that!

For that matter, Apple stores here in Socal do really well, for the simple reason that we have more mac users around here, and we don't want to drive in traffic for an hour to get to a Apple store.

    Pasadena
    Glendale

15 min apart and both do fine!

    It's just fun to say...

...Rancho Cucamonga! Even more fun, than Kalamazoo!

    Does this mean

that Apple took a wrong turn at Albuquerque?

    Victoria Gardens

While Rancho Cucamonga as a city might not be "exclusive", as you put it, Victoria Gardens is supposed to be a high-end mall when it opens, which probably explains it. R.C. isn't too shabby when it comes to disposable income, either.

    another area

another area in socal that is in need of a store would be the northern OC, western San Bernadino County, or eastern San Gabriel Valley areas... something between Pasadena, Rancho, and Costa Mesa.... perhaps Brea Mall? Montclair Plaza? the upcoming Chino Hills mall project?
