Who knew that AppleInsider was considered an 'industry report'. And to think I always thought it was a rumor site.
Pretty pathetic when a financial analyst sez something might happen based on a rumor site. Tell me again why said analysts know more than other people, and why their opinions are officially sanctioned?
Of course, it would be nice to see some G5 imacs next week. I'll be there.
The stock market. Most overblown shell game there is...too bad so many fortunes are tied to it.
There won't be a iMac G5 for a while according to Apple. I'm betting we'll see speedbumps across the board, with the highest speeds going (obviously) to the 17" and 20" systems.
That's assuming AppleInsider is correct. It would make sense for them to refresh the iMac line, since they just released upgraded eMacs.
Hey, Slipperfrog: Apple hasn't said there will be no G5 iMac anytime soon. It is possible there will be one at the WWDC. I'm betting there will be a new G5 iMac introduced soon.

As far as whether these renderings look like what Apple "may" release on monday, we'll see.
This of course means, the last generation of iMacs will go on sale, and i'll promptly buy a 20" armature iMac to replace my 17" current model. and i'll do the same when the wristwatch iMac comes out.... and when the embedded in your temple iMac comes out (or goes in, or whatever)... and their father's father, and their father's father's father.... ad infinitum or until we ourselves become computers dealing with "those icky sentient carbon-based beings." a.k.a. iHuman.
In the spring it starts again, and the cycle of life continues...

Imagine if a "grocery federation" would dictate when the grapes from a winery should be picked and how long they should be distilled for! Would that make for a great wine? If you want a good wine, you have to wait for it. If you want juice, please look to Dell!
First, those came from ThinkSecret, not AppleInsider. Second, those are pictures of the artist renderings of the rumored look of the new flat-panel displays, not the new imacs. You can tell because there's no drive slots, no place for a hard drive (unless they go slow and small like a laptops).
Get your unsubstantiated rumors correct, will ya!
Read what I read. Granted, it doesn't say there WON'T be a G5 iMac at some point.
I've seen the innards of the G4 iMac, and I can tell you there is ZERO wasted space in there. I've also seen the size of the heatsink that goes on a G5 and there is no way they could fit it into an iMac enclosure without a signifigant redesign, or some serious steps forward in cooling tech.
Of course, it all hinges on what your definition of "Soon" is. Me, I'm betting it'll be another 6 months or so before we see a iMac G5. Could I be wrong? Well sure! Do I want to be right? Heck no! I'd love a G5-based iMac as much as the next guy. Not that I could afford it... ;)
Guess we'll find out come Monday!
