Apple expands iBook repair extension program (again)

updated 07:05 am EDT, Mon June 21, 2004

iBook repair extension

Apple has again at the end of April 2004.

Apple notes the program "covers affected iBooks for three years after the first retail sale of the unit or until December 18, 2004, whichever provides longer coverage for you. Apple will continue to evaluate the repair data and will provide further repair extensions as needed." Customers are also entitled to compensation for any repairs that were eligible for the program.

    Good

It's nice to see that Apple is continuing to do the right thing here. Basically this now means that every one of the white G3 models are covered since this encompasses the entire time period they were manufactured.

    h*** yeah!

About time they realized this problem extended to the original iceBooks! Looking forward to a $400 check in the mail soon.

    Bah!

But what about us Beige G3 owners who are stuck, well, with a Beige G3? This in no way helps me get a G5 under my desk anytime soon!

What the h*** is apple smoking, anyway???

    bittersweet

After a year of my 600 MHz iBook acting as a paperweight, Apple finally admits what many affected iBook owners knew all along. Sure, I'm happy they will fix it for "free" - but what about my lost year of use? How about a free OS upgrade coupon for my trouble? It would cost Apple nothing, but would certainly make me feel happier.
