You don't think email, backup of data, virus protection, and a learning center isn't important to newbies?
a does of reality. Just because he knows all there is to know about .Mac doesn't a new user shouldn't be allowed to scale the slopes to his greatness quickly with the aid of a book or good support to answer questions.
Why do supposed know-it-all's post complaints when Apple does something good for computer illiterates only proving the concept of "computers for the rest of us"? It really is quite pathetic and immature to criticise such an obviously good thing just because it isn't of direct benefit to you. Perhaps you might try growing up a little and seeing that there's more types of .Mac user than just you.
i wasn't trying to be as ugly as you two. wow. all i was saying was that i like .Mac, but look at the thousands of people who complain on various forums, obviously not right here, about the cheesiness factor of .Mac. I mean know one cares about free Skywalker sounds. Wow! I am actually surprised at you. You sound like a newbie and usually newbies don't surf forums. Man, have you learned any of the 'secret' Mac things yet, like keyboard shortcuts or using the trash can? Get bent. You probably get mad when people download illegal music and software too. Virus protection? I don't use a P.C. Sorry. Learning center? Don't need one, the Mac is a living learning center. All of koolkid's ideas smack of Microsoftness. Don't worry son, it will wear off when you fully get used to using the mac. You must be a switcher. You guys are probably the kind of people who use the free service at the Apple store where the tech guy will transfer your bookmarks to the new computer you buy. Wow! I'm tired. I'll put the knife in the sheath now. Peace. If you use a Mac, you're my friend.
Wow. Why are you attacking me? I was not being harsh at all. It was the other guy that said you need a dose of reality, and that you were a know-it-all.
You said the stuff was not for newbie, and mentioned the stuff you used. All I did was pointed out the things that may be useful for newbies. And in your counter argument you said those things are not useful to you. I don't care if they are not useful to you. I just said they are things newbies may care about.
And since you care so much about my background. I own both a Mac and a PC, am an advanced user on both systems; I'm not one of those people that believe Apple can do no wrong; and I will choose Apple over Microsoft any day. And I said this all without personal attacks.

Wooie!!!!
Awesome updates .Mac!!! Awesome!!! (Sarcasm is my mode of attack here) I wish they would quit trying to force .Mac on newbies because that really isn't what it's for. I have .Mac because I need bookmark/ical/contact syncing between several macs at several locations, and I use homepage but that is really it. And I am happy with that. I wish they would quit adding cheesy discounts to lame books and loads upon loads of support for a service that they themselves claim is easy. If it is so easy to use, then why all the bragging about support and such????
