Skype for Mac OS X announced by developer
Skyper Limited has announced the Mac version of Skype, its free and simple application that enables you to make free calls anywhere in the world. Skype, created by the developer of KaZaA, uses innovative P2P (peer-to-peer) technology to connect you with other Skype users. "If you are tired of paying outrageous fees for telephony, Skype is for you!" The Mac OS X beta version will be available in a few weeks, according to the developer.

Don't get me wrong, I use Skype on my Wintel box and I think it's one of the better VoIP apps, but I would never go so far as to recommend someone buy a PC instead of a Mac because of it. Come on. It's not that good. :-)
Since day one with my 17" Powerbook I've been using iChat with this AND video if I want, same quality, even more people to find to yak with. Notice the standard lack of clarity in the pitch that the callee has to be a Skype registered user, so nothing new except conferencing, it won't be long before they all do that, not surprised it was the biggest thing since sliced bread on a PC, soon we'll all be using open source universal clients to all the services. Yawn…
I don't think we need this kind of 'free' software in the Mac world.
