    WOW more ...

... I forgot to mention that it's also inaccurate to call this film "the" suprise hit of the Cannes Film Festival. It might perhaps be "a" surprise hit, but many other films would also qualify for that title. For example, Farenheit 9/11 received the longest standing ovation of any film in the history of the festival -- 20 full minutes! You try clapping for more than three minutes and you'll begin to appreciate what an honour that was.

    Farenheit 9/11

Farenheit 9/11's applause was an anti-American statement by the mostly French audience. It was an organized event, with communications going out for weeks to attendees to encourage them to make a statement against the US by applauding this film. Big whoop. Film critics tore the film apart, noting inaccuracies, redundant "exposes", and the typical Moore blowharding.

    Fahrenheit 9/11

"Farenheit 9/11 received the longest standing ovation of any film in the history of the festival -- 20 full minutes!"

So they keep stats? If so, then the organizers of this "applause" knew exactly how long they needed to make "history."

LOL, rok!! I think it might be safe to replace his use of "film critics" with "Republicans" or "Bush supporters." I have a feeling those links you're asking him to share may be located in the same place as Mr. Bush's WMDs.

    re: Film critics

Being curious, I did a google search for reviews. Being as it has only been shown at Cannes, there are not many reviews and almost all of what is out there is on an obviously biased, one way or the other, site and most of the comments are from those that have not yet seen the movie.

I did find one review from Reuters that I think is as close to unbiased as we are going to get at this time...

    http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=reviewsNews&storyID=5174153

I am sure that those of you who hate the war and/or the President will either see this as a positive review or point out that the reviewer or Reuters is hardly an unbiased source. Those with opposite views will most likely read the review entirely differently and applaud the source.
