'PearPC' to emulate PowerPC on x86 machines

\'PearPC\' to emulate Mac

Though there's long been relatively stable applications for running Windows-based software on Apple hardware, using Mac-centric programs on IBM-compatible machines has rarely been possible. A duo of enthusiasts is attempting change that by launching an open-source program called that lets PCs built around chips from Intel and AMD emulate a machine running the PowerPC chip. The software can also run various flavors of Linux, though most of the interest has focused on its ability to run the Mac OS X on a PC. Early testers say the software works but that it runs very slowly. Sebastian Biallas, who created PearPC with help from Stefan Weyergraf, acknowledged the software's limits, warning that it's prone to crashing and runs at only a tiny fraction of the speed of the host PC.

    Yes

You are not the only one that can read, you know...

This is why it is at version 0.1.

    It is something

This way my frineds can install OSX in their computer, and test it out. If they like it, they might end up switching to an Apple hardware. Of course you could always run it on the Super-computers (that cost millions) and you would get like a low end G4 speed.

With further development, bug fixes, and code optimizations, it will only take four hours to install MacOS X on an Athlon:)

    Something

So you don't let your friends try out OS X on your machine and rather let them spend 5 hours to install the unusable OS X on PearPC? No wonder no one is switching. :)

    Re:Something

I wouldn´t recommend your friends trying out OS X for the first time using this emulator. They wouldn´t get the proper feel of the OS at all, everything is dead slow. They might pass jugdement on something that wasn´t the real deal.

    Welcome!

to last week. How about a new story!

Oh, and its at version .1 not because of speed, but because it does very little before it chokes and dies. Speed has never been a priority before an official release (just ask MS!).

How long does it take to install WinXPPro?

Only 5hrs to install OS X in a 0.1 emulation. Not bad.
