Sony and Apple growing ever more alike

Sony similar to Apple?

Sony's between two technology titans known for stylish innovation, according to Silicon.com: "And if you squint just a little, Apple and Sony seem to look more alike by the day. Each company is looking closely at a long-predicted future, when digital "convergence" potentially allows traditionally separate hardware and software markets to merge into a single device.."

    Well

You know how people keep saying Apple's closed iTunes and iPod will work against it? Well if that is true, then there is no way Sony can succeed.

    I don't think so !

Sony's ATRAC is RIPE to die !

As good MD Player's were 10 years ago (and still are if you want to record live feeds of music from different sources), they are NO competition for the iPod.

    And Sony's music store: *lol*
If you can only get ATRAC, it's destined to be unsuccessful. Just wait and see.
    Sony doesn't get it anymore.

    Inovation !?!

Sony's idea of innovation is stealing other peoples ideas and making them proprietary.

Name me one invention by Sony that didn't exist before. Mostly what they do is take two devices and try to combine them into one.

What does Sony have? Laptops (copy cat), PDAs (copy cat), MP3 players with music download (very original—indeed), camcorders, cameras, etc.. etc..

There best innovation is a PDA with a camera built in (oh how original), Laptop with a camera built in (oh how original! How much do you want to bet they will come up with a MP3 player with a camera built in!

    iTMS Problem

Something that could be a problem in the future for the iTMS is if Sony and the other labels with their own stores stop letting apple sell their stuff. Sony says they have the best songs available for download, which means they're keeping some things away from Apple. If this continues, Apple could be left out in the cold because they DON'T have a catalog of their own to sell.

    nah

if it was proven that Sony withheld songs from Apple to use on their own store they'd be in a serious anti-competitive lawsuit. Sony doesn't want that.

Ever heard of the Walkman? It was a portable music player that played tapes and had radio.

    Re: innovation

OK, but if you ignore that, and anything else the did before the competition, I dare you to come up with one invention by Sony that didn't exist before!

    More Sony inventions...

The handheld transistor radio. CDs. DVDs. Trinitron tubes. I'm stuck beyond those.

Didn't Sony also develop VHS before selling the rights and then going on to develop the superior Betamax? Or is that just urban legend?
